A Zettelkasten (German: 'slipbox', plural Zettelkästen) or card file consists of small items of information stored on Zetteln (German: 'slips'), paper slips or cards, that may be linked to each other through subject headings or other metadata such as numbers and tags. *mispelled intentionally.

Naming formatting is custom, as always. The tagging system uses both the dewey decimal system, classic numbering, and referencing specific topics that are interesting to me.

Largely, the focus is on quotes from books. However, my over 1k notecard system includes topics such as mental health, government, abolition, and various other historical or geographical facts.

The core plan for the system is to server me as a second brain, to make up for having bad memory, and bad information recall. This helps by both forcing you to write information down, increasing chances of recall, and making sure that you have a categorical system that can be referenced in future, allowing for information to be located more easily, when needed.

This site specifically will serve as a hub for me to keep information I find about the zettelkasten process in general, as well as thoughts on my own process. How that evolves, what I want to change, and needs I have.
